Venus Signs and Meanings in Astrology

Your Venus sign in astrology (your natal Venus Placement) is such a beautiful energy to tap into. It represents love, it represents attraction and what you want to experience in your own life and passion, and also with another.

In a Man’s Chart (or the more masculine energied person’s chart), it represents the woman or the feminine energy that they are instantly attracted to. In a woman’s chart, or the more feminine person’s chart, it represents how they are in love, and also a “secret” element of their attraction.

Where is your Venus placed? Venus tells us a beautiful story of what fulfills us, what makes us feel amazing inside, and what we need to truly be happy in life.

If you are not “in” the highest energy of your Venus, then you are not in your deepest state of happiness.

Venus in Aries
Pierre-Auguste Renoir was an artist with his Venus in Aries. This picture "The Large Bathers" 1887, features his wife Aline Victorine Charigot in the centre. As you can see, she has a full body and proudly curvaceous compared to the other women, and anyone with their Venus in Aries prefers a full, strong figure. Even though the other women are oblivious to the spectator, Mme Charigot has a playful glance toward the viewers direction, creating an openness within a closed setting with backs turned towards us.
Venus in Taurus
Jean-Honoré Fragonard was an artist with his Venus in Taurus. This painting - "Las bañistas" or "The Bathers" 1765 - shows all of the beauty which is held in an individual with this placement. The ability to combine love with a grounding backdrop, incorporating a fullness from every natural element, including the human body is what a Venus in Taurus Man or Woman specializes in.
Venus in Gemini
Pornocrates, 1896 was painted by Venus in Gemini man and artist Félicien Rops. This piece was seen as extremely taboo and had many hidden meanings within it - a common theme for Venus in Gemini. The woman, being led blindly by a pig with a golden tail is meant to represent women being blindly led by their sexuality, the hog representing man. In one hand it can be seen as an insult and in the other it can almost be seen as an homage being paid to the unspoken.
Venus in Cancer
This beautiful image of Venus was painted by Diego Velázquez (1599-1660, Spain), an artist with his Venus in Cancer. It is called "Rokeby Venus", or "La Venus del espejo". Velázquez and his work were of extreme importance in terms of influence within the art of the Spanish Golden Age. This was one of his last works, and incredibly survived the Spanish Inquisition (which many paintings did not). Here, we see Venus being depicted in the true essence of a real woman - true to Venus in Cancer form.
Venus in Leo
This image is a recreation of the original painting by Venus in Leo artist  Jacques-Louis David and it is called "Mars desarme par Venus" (Mars Being Disarmed by Venus). In typical Venus in Leo style, it is massive in size, standing at about 10 feet high - there is no way that you could walk by without noticing it and being lured into it's appreciation. To model Venus, he used a famous actress by the name of Marie Lesueur, adding a chosen element of identity to the piece even before it's completion.

Venus in Aquarius
This featured painting was created by Paul Cézanne, who had his Venus in Aquarius. The painting is called Olympia. Paul Cézanne took an already risqué painting and made it even more bold and daring. It pictures a woman of high status posing naked - not something for a woman of that stature to do.
